Statement from Rep. Gary Miller on April Jobs Report

Rancho Cucamonga, CA – This morning the U.S. Department of Labor released its jobs report for the month of April. Following the report’s release, Congressman Gary Miller issued the following statement:

“For the thousands of San Bernardino County residents who are still struggling to find a good-paying job, today’s unemployment report brings little comfort. The fact is our economy is growing too slowly to create the jobs we need to get more Americans back to work in the Inland Empire and across the country.

To get our economy growing and creating new jobs for more Americans, we need to prioritize federal spending so we can continue to provide vital services for our most vulnerable citizens while reducing waste, reform our overly complex and burdensome tax code, and ensure that government regulations do not impede the ability of entrepreneurs and job creators to innovate.

It is also vital that we ensure that American companies are able to compete in the international economy. Just this week, I was pleased to hold, in collaboration with the Export-Import Bank, a forum in San Bernardino to make small business owners and other job creators in the Inland Empire seeking to export their products to overseas markets aware of the tools that are available to them.

As we continue to address our nation’s fiscal challenges, I will continue to work with all sides to enact pro-growth policies that will encourage innovation in our economy and enhance the competitiveness of U.S. companies in the global marketplace.”
