Click here for entire Capitol Connection Newsletter Small businesses are the key driver of job creation in our country, generating 65% of the new jobs in this country over the past 17 years. In California, there are over half a million small businesses that employ over 6.5 million workers. On Thursday, House Republicans voted to provide tax relief to these small business employers. The Small Business Tax Cut Act will allow businesses with fewer than 500 employees –which represent 99.9% of the nation’s 27.5 million businesses - to deduct 20 percent of their active business income. This tax relief will free up capital for small business owners to expand, hire new workers, invest in new equipment, or meet other needs that they deem best for their business. According to the Joint Committee on Taxation, this legislation will benefit over 22 million small business employers nationwide, reducing their taxes by nearly $46 billion. Congressman Miller supported this measure to help California’s small businesses grow and create new jobs.
