Congressman Miller Opposes Administration's Backdoor Amnesty Plan

Washington, Sep 23, 2011 - Click here for entire Capitol Connection Newsletter  Over the course of the last year, the Obama administration has ignored the will of Congress and the American people by using executive branch authority to allow illegal immigrants to remain in the U.S. In August, the Department of Homeland Security announced it will direct immigration officials to undergo a case-by-case review of illegal immigrants who have been ordered to be deported and halt proceedings against those who have not been convicted of serious crimes. The policy change will also allow these individuals to apply for work permits. Simply put, this is a backdoor approach to grant amnesty to hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants. Last week, Congressman Miller joined 73 of his colleagues in sending a letter to President Obama criticizing this misguided policy that does a grave disservice to the rule of law. He will continue to strongly oppose any form of amnesty and will work to pursue an enforcement-first approach to solve our nation’s illegal immigration problem.
